Gethsemoni, the Queen of the Dead, nabs Shard for an intimate conversation in which she tests Shard's mettle. Death convenes the Court of the Dead to express his displeasure at the lack of progress to recover the Finger of Eddath, but the proceedings are interrupted by a crippled Ellianastas. Reacting to the damaged Oracle's suspicious and cryptic words, Shard and Wightshiv are sent on a mission. They bond over the defeat of an unexpected foe, but an even more unexpected reveal from Wightshiv sours their newly forged trust.
